Week 5: May 9th - May 14th

Worship is Prayer

Sunday, May 9—Join us in-person or online for worship as we discover the new normal that Jesus taught us to pray and believe is possible.  “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

Prayer Focus:

As you read the Psalm(s) this week let this be your prayer focus:  What desires, struggles or distractions are tempting to pull away from God and his best for me?  Why is that desire, struggle, or distraction a temptation to me?

Preparing for Prayer through Scripture

One Day Plan

May 10—Psalm 21
May 11—Psalm 22
May 12—Psalm 23
May 13—Psalm 24
May 14—Psalm 25

Three-a-day plan

May 10—Psalm 61 (morning), 62  (afternoon) and 63 (night)
May 11— Psalm 64 (morning), 65 (afternoon) and 66 (night)
May 12—Psalm 67 (morning), 68  (afternoon) and 69 (night)
May 13— Psalm 70 (morning), 71 (afternoon) and 72 (night)
May 14— Psalm 73 (morning), 74  (afternoon) and 75 (night)

Prayer Challenge:

May 10th - 14th

Prayer of surrender.  Find a scrap piece of paper and write a source of temptation on it each day this week.  Then pray and ask God to show you why that is a temptation for you.  If and when you are ready to surrender that temptation to him, crumble it up and throw it away.  Then ask God to show you something positive to replace that negative temptation.

Monday, May 10th

Wednesday, May 12th

Saturday

Every Saturday is a day off.  You can use it as a day to catch up if you fall behind, celebrate when you are on schedule and even consider using it as a time to journal.  Journaling is another means of prayer that allows you to put on paper what God has been showing you.
